Who we are, our network and our history
Better software for a better world.
The Reflab skilled Team, through their passion and expertise, strives everyday to make it possible. As you can see from our past projects, we designs and develops innovative web solutions, intranets and websites for international organizations since 2003, mainly in the humanitarian and social sector.
We work with organizations to help them push the limits with their use of technology. We work with communications experts, economists, crisis response experts, and product managers at organizations like the WFP (World Food Programme), MSF (Médicines Sans Frontières), Oxfam to solve tough communications challenges.
On the product front, our team leads the development of OOPS , Online/Offline Publication System, a project being developed by Reflab with the World Food Programme (WFP) to answer a very basic need: to have always updated information available in the fields, without the need of a permanent internet connection.
Our network
We are a highly specialized, small and flexible structure that deliver its projects partnering with the customer and with a wide network of trusted small companies and external collaborators.
Reflab team and partners include not only senior developers and consultants, but also experts in usability, design, system administration and software engineering.
Reflab has a core team of eight incredible (o stiking) people and also contracts with a number of external developers on a regular basis. Mediatria (mediatria.it), Reflab sister company since 2005, provides visual design, UI design, theming. We work also with Graham Oakes Ltd. (http://www.grahamoakes.co.uk/) and Mimulus (www.mimulus.net) for consulting and management; and 3logic (www.3logic.it) for mobile applications development.
Our History
Reflab started as a laboratory for extremely highly specialized development on Zope/Plone. On one side Riccardo Lemmi brought his passion for software engineering and in particular agile development, on the other Francesco Ciriaci brought his passion for the Web in general and user interfaces.
We are actively involved in the national and international Plone and Python communities but also in the broader User Interaction and Agile communities. Since the very beginning we aimed to international involvement and commitment as part of a clear roadmap toward excellence.
More recently, thanks to the activities of Miomood, a web startup founded and run by Reflab associates and Mediatria associates, the team has been more and more involved in social network projects, social innovation and in general use of Internet aimed to social goals.
Having always worked for international organizations and large NGOs Reflab have been developing many solutions for collaboration and knowledge sharing in particular to support humanitarian operations.
Eventually merging the two main areas of expertise Reflab has become an important international technical partner for innovative web projects in the humanitarian, international development and social & green.
