ITER 2010: Online guide to secondary school education and training

For CISEM, we have developed ITER ONLINE, an open system to allow students, parents and education professionals full access to most secondary school data in Provincia di Milano.

CISEM http://www.cisem.it/, Center for Educational Innovation and Experimentation in Milan, is an institution that deals with educational research, especially on secondary education degree.

For its research activities, CISEM, collaborate with organizations and institutions such as the Italian Ministry of Educational http://www.miur.it/, Universities, the Regione Lombardia http://www.regione.lombardia.it and Campania http://www.regione.lombardia.it and Regional Education Office of Lombardia http://www.istruzione.lombardia.it/. It's also an "Associate Member" of the Program on Educational Building in OECD http://www.oecd.org/ (Organization for Cooperation and Economic Development).

CISEM needed a tool for information and guidance - aimed at youth, parents, teachers - to help those who have to choose or recommend how to continue education after secondary school degree. ITER Online offers the latest news, with an accessible language to all and also provides an overview of all the new opportunities of education and training offices in Milan and Province. It also offers geolocalized search for schools and other guidance tools.

We have developed for CISEM, ITER 2010, a web project that uses most of the data CISEM officially manages about secondary school and makes it easy to consult and use. The focus of the project is to provide the users with a very usable system accessible to everyone.

We used Zope 3 http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope3 to pull data from the huge CISEM database and build a complete navigation on it. User Interface design has been one of the main drivers for the project.

The project has been developed in only three weeks, usign an agile approch.

iter 2011

This edition, for the first time, fully replaces the ITER paper version. The application features now the highlighting of new skills, evening courses, an improved research by proximily and more detailed research by keyword, to better serve those who have to choose how to continue education after secondary school degree.

We, for Iter Online, have used Grok 1.2.
