One project to plone them all

PloneGov project joins local and regional governments and SME from Belgium, France, Switzerland, Spain and Argentina.

If you have heard about CommunesPlone you know the plot: a collaborative development effort that brings Open Source software to local authorities and e-Government services to the people.

PloneGov is evolving from the successful experience of CommunesPlone and similar projects (PloneGov.ch, UdalPlone) and gathers them into one award-winning initiative.

Around 45 Belgian, French, Spanish, Swiss, Argentinean and American Cities and Regions participate in the CommunesPlone project, renamed PloneGov on June1, 2007. In doing so, they aim to gain independence from IT services providers by developing, essentially by themselves and in a cooperative manner, applications and websites for their own use as well as for their citizens’.

PloneGov strategy mainly rests on Open Source tools: Zope and Plone.

More information about PloneGov can be found in the beautiful articles at ZeaPartners and on the official website.
